25 Years of Experience in Interventional Pain Medicine

Dr. John Brendel has been practicing medicine in Wisconsin for 25 years and is one of the region’s top specialists in interventional pain medicine. He is Board Certified by the American Society of Anesthesiology and the American Board of Pain Medicine.

Chronic pain is not just physically exhausting, it is a complex challenge that can affect many areas of your life. Emotional issues, family relationships, job-related concerns, and financial stress can all play a part in the pain cycle. My goal is to provide comprehensive solutions that resolve many aspects of your pain. To accomplish this, I pinpoint and treat the physical source of your pain and work to identify underlying issues that, if left untreated, may be interfering with your ability to find relief. Over the years, I’ve found that this approach consistently provides the best results for my patients.

Focusing on Patient Care & Pain Management

Dr. Brendel saw a need in Wisconsin pain management. He recognized that there wasn’t much interaction between doctors and patients in his line of work. He wanted to create a place where he could build strong relationships with patients and care for them as long as they needed. So, in 2003 he founded his own clinic—Interventional Pain Specialists of Wisconsin.

At Interventional Pain Specialists of Wisconsin, Dr. Brendel is dedicated to helping patients find pain relief. He pinpoints and treats the physical source of pain, working to identify compounding issues like stress and lifestyle.

Tackling the Tough Cases

Over time, his practice has grown. He takes complex cases and helps patients facing very serious challenges. Many of his patients have unsuccessfully sought pain relief for years. They turn to Dr. Brendel to get results when other health care providers couldn’t help.

“My biggest victories are with patients who have tougher problems that have been hard to manage with conventional procedures and reasonably invasive procedures, who still aren’t functioning well physically and mentally. If I can do anything to help them turn that around, it is incredibly rewarding.”

And for the more complex cases, John reaches out to other professionals for a more collaborative approach. He knows many good surgeons, mental health practitioners and others whom he is confident can provide the same high level of service and patient care that his patients have come to expect from his own clinic.

Finding Joy

Dr. Brendel feels blessed to be able to do what he does, helping others find pain relief. Assisting patients to get better has been one of the most rewarding experiences in his life.

Additionally, Dr. Brendel loves to take advantage of the good things in life. He takes great joy in his family, travel, photography, outdoor activities like golf and bow hunting, and simply relaxing by a nice fire. With so much pain in the world, it is most important to embrace the things that bring you happiness.
